In August, we'll be taking our Junior Farmers on a fun guided walk around the farm:
- Stopping by our different fruit and veg fields to learn how they how they grow: from planting to pollination to picking.
- Visiting the private woods (usually off-limits to visitors) to understand more about woodland life.
- Building a 'bug hotel' to take home to encourage insects to pollinate plants where you live!
Suitable for children aged 3 to 13, the sessions last around 50-60 minutes. Tickets cost £6.95 per child; it's free for accompanying adults (max 2 per child) and non-participating younger siblings. Advanced bookings are essential and all spaces have now sold out.
Some extra details...
- Weather: Sessions will mostly take place outdoors and will go ahead rain or shine! Please dress appropriately for the weather and bring umbrellas/wellies if raining.
- Fruit Picking: Although these sessions will include visits to the fruit/veg fields, they do not include picking activities. Please visit our fruit picking page nearer the time for information on what will be available to pick and to book if necessary.
- Maize Maze: Will be open every day in August. To be sure of entry we would recommend clicking here to book in advance. If visiting the maze before your Junior Farmers session please allow 45 minutes to escape!
- Accessibility: The tours involve walking around the farm, mostly along grass tracks. Although accessible to sturdy prams in dry conditions, we'd advise not bringing one if possible, as you'll enjoy a more comfortable walk without. Prams will need to be left at the edge of the woods for that part of the session. For advice on wheelchair accessibility, please ring us to discuss.
- Siblings: We usually welcome non-participating younger siblings (under 18 months) free of charge to Junior Farmers. Given the physical nature of these sessions and our advice on bringing prams, we'd advise not bringing infants to this event if possible as pushing/carrying them around the farm might be tiring! But if needs be, infants are welcome to come along.
