Book Planting Pumpkins

Join us during the May half-term holidays for Planting Pumpkins.

Farmer Tod grows over 13,000 pumpkins for our Pumpkin Festival every October and he needs your help to plant them! The 45 minute sessions will include:
  • Learning activities all about how we grow our pumpkins and other food crops.
  • A visit to the Junior Farmer pumpkin patch where each child will get to plant a pumpkin by hand (no tractors involved!).
  • A potting session to plant a sunflower for every child to take home and grow over the summer.
In addition, our attendees will be invited back in late September for an exclusive visit to inspect how the Junior Farmer pumpkin patch has grown before we open to the public.*
Suitable for children aged around 3-10 years old, the session costs £5.50 per child. It's free for accompanying adults and non-participating infants (under 18 months). Advanced bookings are essential and spaces are limited. To book, please click on your choice of date below:
  • Wednesday 29th May - SOLD OUT
  • Thursday 30th May - SOLD OUT
  • Friday 31st May - SOLD OUT
  • Tuesday 4th June - SOLD OUT
  • Thursday 6th June  - SOLD OUT
Some extra details...
  • * The follow-up visit will be an invitation to come to the patch on Sat 28th Sept, a week before we open to the wider public. It will be unsupervised, not an official Junior Farmer session and there will be no charge to enter. If they wish, children can pick a pumpkin from the Junior Farmer patch at this time and pay for it by size as per a standard pumpkin. Please note, as will be explained in the session in May it will be almost impossible for a child to find 'their' pumpkin - just 'a' pumpkin within the Junior Farmer patch.
  • We're offering two flavours of the sessions: one for pre-school children (aged 3 to 5) and one for primary school children (aged 5 to 11). We won't strictly enforce these age restrictions (so don't worry if you're bringing children with a range of ages) but would ask you to book in to the session that's most appropriate for your child. The Open Age sessions are suitable for all ages.
  • Sessions will mostly take place outdoors so please dress for the weather and wear wellies.
  • Please arrive at least 10 minutes before your session starts. The session will start promptly on the hour.
